Innvest Hotel Brokers Sells Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA

Great Neck, NY: Deirdre (Murphy) Ventura, CHB President of Innvest Hotel Brokers announced today that the firm sold the 193-unit Airport Plaza Hotel, located at 9404 University Boulevard in Pittsburgh, PA for $2,000,000. Although the buyer has substantial interests in eastern Pennsylvania, this is their initial foray into Western Pennsylvania. Deirdre (Murphy) Ventura, CHB and Julie Chan, Assistant Broker, handled the transaction.

The Airport Plaza, an independent, limited-service, two-story, interior-corridor
193-room property was built in 1962 as a Howard Johnson Motor Lodge. The property is located on University Boulevard, formerly known as Beers School Road, had been a market leader when it was sold to absentee management in 1998. The hotel was foreclosed in 2003 and closed by the lender in 2004.

According to Murphy, "Innvest accepted the listing and, as a result of our efforts, within 150 days secured multiple Letters of Intent and went directly to closing with the best buyer." In the interest in speed, we elected to skip the purchase and sale contract phase of the transaction. This was a good example of a transaction where the seller had time sensitive objectives.
